Tony winner Kelly Bishop will join the cast of the Tony-winning revival of Anything Goes on August 9 in the role of Evangeline Harcourt. She replaces original cast member Jessica Walter, who will play her final performance on July 31. The Kathleen Marshall-helmed show opened at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on April 7, starring Sutton Foster as Reno Sweeney and Joel Grey as Moonface Martin.
Bishop’s breakout Broadway role was as Sheila in the original cast of A Chorus Line, for which she earned both Tony and Drama Desk awards. Her other Broadway credits include Proposals, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Bus Stop and Six Degrees of Separation. Her films include An Unmarried Woman, Dirty Dancing and Miami Rhapsody, and she is well known to TV audiences for her role as Emily Gilmore on Gilmore Girls.
In addition to Foster and Grey, the cast of Anything Goes includes Colin Donnell, Laura Osnes, Adam Godley, Jessica Stone, Walter Charles, Robert Creighton, Andrew Cao and Raymond J. Lee.
